Hello. I’m in Pittsburgh. Typing on the world’s oldest IBM Thinkpad. Nah, it’s not really the oldest. Just ONE of the oldest. But, my mom’s happy w/ it. We’ve all offered to buy her a new computer, upgrade her to cable Internet, etc… and she refuses. Whatever floats her boat, I guess!

So, I met Ben and I can totally understand how that puppy has my big-ass brother wrapped around his little finger. Ben is huge – almost 90lbs at seven months old – and he’s sweet and mischevious. Very, very sweet and very, very mischevious. While my family was at the wedding on Saturday, rather than put him in his kennel as Jason suggested, my parents thought Ben would be fine w/ free-roam of the house. He ate a set of mini-blinds and a lamp. LOL.

The wedding was a blast. I love weddings that are more fun than formal. I beat Gregory at a chugging contest. See, he didn’t want to dance w/ me, so he said that if I could drink my alcoholic Shirley Temple faster than he drank his rum and Coke, he would dance w/ me. And he even gave me an advantage… his was full, while mine was half empty. And I won. :) So Gregory, Jason and I danced to Shook Me All Night Long – haha. At some point Jason got tanked, too, so he took to the dance floor where he looked like a rabid monkey. Oh well. It was SO nice having my whole family together, even if it was for less than 24 hours. On Sunday morning Jason, Ben and Laurie headed back to Maryland (Jason has a two-day interview w/ the Postal Inspector’s office that he had to get back for) and my dad had to go to Philly to catch a flight to Boston, which is where he’ll be all week.

Ummm…. tonight I’m going out w/ MP. Yay! It’ll be really good to see her. Oh yeah! I woke up this morning and my mom was like, “Aleeeeeesh! Can you help me for a minute?” I ended up hauling 400lbs (seriously) of top soil from the driveway into the back yard. It sucked! So, I’m covered in dirt and in need of a shower. Where was Gregory while all of this was happening, you ask? Asleep.

I smell really bad today. Honestly, I do. I was in my car driving to work and was like, “What’s that smell?” I figured it was just my car! LOL. Then I got into my office and I still smelled the smell, at which point I realized it must be me. I left my clothes in the washer too long before placing them in the dryer, so now this shirt (and many other items) has that sour mildew smell. Ugh. Now I have to re-wash everything in that load before I leave in the morning.

So, Jason called me last night to see if I was bringing my camera to Pittsburgh w/ me. I am, of course – I take my camera everywhere – and when I asked why, he said he wanted to make sure I was going to take lots of pictures of Ben, his puppy. Seriously. That’s why he called. To make sure I was going to photograph Ben. LOL. Jason is madly in love w/ that dog! I’ve really never seen anything like it.

One of The Daves and I were talking this morning about how being in a family w/ siblings – especially siblings of the opposite sex – shapes you. He’s nervous because he has two boys and is concerned about them not having a female influence. I don’t know how much influence I had over Jason and Gregory. Neither is effeminate in any way. Well, Gregory’s a pretty-boy, but that’s different. He’s a metrosexual to some degree. But I don’t think I had anything to do w/ that. They definitely had an influence on me, though. It couldn’t be helped. I grew up w/ two boys, my dad and my tomboy mother. So, I like to wear stilettos, paint my nails and watch SportsCenter. And I love football.

I’m really looking forward to my trip home, but I’m a little nervous about it, too. Since moving away, I haven’t spent solid seven days at home. I’m going to be staying w/ two different families – my own and Kristen’s – so I’m going to have to be on my best behavior for a week. Boo. Not that I’m ill-mannered or anything, but there are definite advantages to living alone. I can literally do anything I want (within reason). I can stay up late, sleep late, wear only a t-shirt, eat cake for dinner, check my email at whatever time, dance around my apartment to cheesy 80’s music, etc…

Openness to experience:

Your openness to new experiences is medium.
You are generally broad minded when it come to new things.

You are suspicious of anything too wacky, though you do still consider creativity a virtue.

It’s a crappy, rainy day here in Raleighwood. And although it’s only Tuesday, I totally feel like it should be Thursday or Friday, which is going to make for a long-ass week. At least my ipod is fully functioning; I had to do some stuff w/ iTunes and now it’s able to be charged at work again.

I leave for Pittsburgh in FOUR days – hooray! The last time I went home I think I was still shell-shocked (no pun intended) from the demise of my relationship and I wasn’t able to fully appreciate being home. I’m going to be tired on Saturday, though. My flight leaves at 6:30, I have a layover in Philly, then I’ve got a wedding to go to. L-O-N-G day. I’m going to have to get up at like 4:00am. Ugh. Maybe I’ll just stay up all night or something. Hang out at IHOP w/ Roy, the child molester.

Ok – just got some happy news!! Jason and Laurie are bringing Ben w/ them to Pittsburgh!!!! Yayayayayay! I get to meet my niece and nephew in the same weekend! It’s a bit pathetic, though, as Abby’s neither biologically nor legally my niece and Ben is a dog. But it’s all good. They’re more people to love. :)

And in other happy news, our progress report, which I spent weeks writing, rewriting and editing, has just returned from the printer… all 2,000 copies… and it looks great. I’m very impressed w/ it. Not because of what I did, but because of what the graphic designer did. I honest to God never want to read the thing again, but it’s nice to look at.

So, I’ve been plagiarized. Although I was initially pissed off, I kinda think it’s cool! I was doing some bariatric surgery research, saw an article I wrote, and above the article was a byline with a name other than mine. At first it was jarring. I was like, “I wrote that!” But now it’s amusing and flattering in a weird sort of way.

I don’t really have anything else to talk about. My weekend was nice. My week’s shaping up to be relatively uneventful, which is good considering I’ll have to pack and organize a week’s worth of crap for next week’s trip to my alternate homes (Pittsburgh and Morgantown). I’m seeing a friend tonight who I haven’t seen in a while, so I’m looking forward to that. Ummmm……… that’s about all, folks!
